Voice. Vision. Vera: Yuliya’s Extraordinary Journey to a New Kind of Opera

Yuliya’s life reads like a modern Opera—captivating, dazzling, and defiantly original. An award-winning soprano trained at the highest level, a fashion model with a commanding stage presence, and a devoted mother of two, Yuliya Trishkeu is a woman who refuses to be defined by a single role.

Now, she’s channelling her creative fire into Opera Vera, a bold new company dedicated to championing contemporary operas that speak to today’s world. With a voice that has captivated international audiences and a vision that fuses music, theatre, and high fashion, Yuliya is not just performing Opera—she’s reshaping it from the ground up.

“I’ve lived many lives at once—artist, mother, performer, creator—and Opera Vera brings all of them together. It’s not just a company, it’s the culmination of everything I believe in.”

Rooted in a love for theatre, music, and visual storytelling, Opera Vera is not about reimagining the old—it’s about bringing powerful new creations to life. With a focus on contemporary chamber Operas, monodramas, and expressive art song, the company aims to connect with audiences on a deeper, more immediate level.

From the halls of the World’s most elite music conservatories to the pages of high-fashion editorials, Yuliya’s journey is defined by brilliance, boldness, and boundary-pushing artistry. A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where she earned the prestigious International Artist Diploma, and winner of the Gold Medal Opera Prize at the VI Alion Baltic International Music Competition, her voice has captivated audiences across Europe and Australia.

Arriving in the UK on a Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa, Yuliya has never been content to follow the rules. Instead, she’s rewriting them—launching an Opera company that champions modern music, original narratives, and a fiercely fashion-forward aesthetic.

“I believe Opera is alive. It’s not a museum piece,” she says. “There are stories today that need to be told, and composers alive right now who are writing some of the most powerful music we’ve ever heard.”

Opera Vera lives by that belief. Set to debut this September, the company will focus on new chamber Operas, monodramas, and emotionally charged Art Song recitals—all by living composers. With performances that are as visually stunning as they are musically bold, Opera Vera is bringing opera into the now.

Its debut projects include a collaboration with acclaimed British composer Adam Gorb, crafting intimate, cutting-edge works that promise to be unforgettable. Yuliya is also the librettist for War Wounds, a powerful new song cycle by Australian composer Sean O’Boyle, which will premiere under Opera Vera’s banner.

For Yuliya, this company isn’t just a professional venture—it’s deeply personal. She’s doing it all while raising two young children. “Yes, it’s hard work,” she laughs. “I’m running rehearsals with my baby girl on a hip and answering production emails during bedtime stories with my son. But motherhood has only made me more determined. I want to show my kids that their mother built something beautiful, something new and brave.”

It’s not just the music world where Yuliya is breaking ground. Her modelling career has seen her grace fashion campaigns, collaborate with designers, and bring operatic glamour into the world of style. With her striking presence and innate theatricality, she’s equally at home in couture as she is on the concert stage. For her, fashion isn’t an accessory—it’s storytelling.

“Style is part of the story,” she explains. “Every costume, every piece of visual design, is part of the emotion we’re trying to express. Opera is about transporting people, and that begins the moment they walk into the space.”

Born with an instinct for performance, Yuliya began winning international music competitions as a teenager. From Brisbane to Manchester, from cathedral recitals to fully staged operas, her voice has lit up iconic stages including London’s Wigmore Hall. Her repertoire spans the great 20th-century masters—Berg, Weill, Barber, Shostakovich, Schoenberg—as well as world premieres by contemporary composers like Jack Jones, Rob Oswell, Sean Ross, and Gorb himself.

Yet for all her reverence for tradition, Yuliya has always looked ahead. She’s witnessed too many brilliant Operas go unheard, too many composers struggle for a platform. Opera Vera is her answer.

This September, as Opera Vera steps into the spotlight, Yuliya invites fashion lovers, music fans, and cultural tastemakers to witness something new. Something vibrant. Something alive.

Yuliya’s bold and fashion-forward journey across both the stage and the style world is vividly captured in this exclusive shoot by photographer and designer Jo Morley. She wears a striking gown provided by Team Prom Couture (Nottingham) —a perfect reflection of the elegance and edge that define her artistic vision.
